Educator Workshops
At YCDI, we know schools thrive on connection and belonging. Our professional learning workshops help staff strengthen their relational skills through practical, transferable strategies that support staff wellbeing, positive school culture and student outcomes. Research shows that investing in staff social and emotional capability benefits both educators and students
(CASEL, 2026).

Workshop Themes
CASEL: Self-Awareness & Self-Management
1. Know Yourself
“Staying calm is a skill, not a personality trait.”
Educators bring deep self-knowledge to their work every day, reading a room, managing competing demands, and staying steady under pressure. This workshop builds on that skill, helping staff recognise their own emotional patterns, values and triggers with greater clarity and intention.
Participants leave with practical tools for regulating stress, setting meaningful personal and professional goals, and modelling calm, confident self-awareness for students and colleagues alike.
Key concepts: Emotional literacy & regulation; Personal values & strengths; Goals and motivation
CASEL: Social Awareness & Relationship Skills
2. Connect with Others

3. Navigate Complexity
“Good judgement is a habit, not an accident.”
Every day, educators are weighing competing demands and navigating complex situations and dynamics — in the classroom, the staffroom, and with families. This workshop sharpens that everyday capability into shared, deliberate strategies for navigating complexity with confidence.
Participants build practical tools for surfacing the underlying systems and structures at play, anticipating impact, and making decisions, big and small, that reflect their professional values and support the wider school community.
Key concepts: Systems thinking; Ethical reasoning; Impact; Reflective practice
For schools already running a YCDI program
4. Renew & Reignite
“Great practice doesn't need reinventing but sometimes it needs a refresh.”
Many schools have strong YCDI foundations already in place, shared language, embedded routines, and staff who know the program well. This workshop reconnects staff with the research and purpose behind YCDI and social and emotional learning, refreshes confidence and coherence in practice, including for colleagues who are new to the program, and identifies practical, achievable ways to re-energise its place in everyday school life.
Key concepts: Program refresh; Shared language; Whole-school alignment; Embedding practice; Evidence-based approaches
